AWE Mission Statement

Sensitive to the needs of our worshipping community, the AWE worship service provides an alternate Lutheran worship experience that engages God's presence in our lives, helps us enter into the mystery and awe of God, and through God's grace, return to the world transformed with energy and passion for service.

Who/When/Where?

These contemporary worship opportunities draw upon a diverse set of experiences with passion for sharing the truth of the Gospel. The Gospel proclamation styles will draw from a broad and modern array of voices and perspectives.  An intimate worship setting is offered downstairs in Leatherman Hall, which allows time for new and strengthened relationships and connections.

Thirty minutes prior to each A.W.E. service, live music is offered, all of which is arranged by our very own Alternate Worship Band (A.W.B.).

The next A.W.E. services will be held on April 29, 2012 at 4:30 p.m. and June 3, 2012 at 3:30 p.m.

What will an AWE Service look like?

  • Live praise band
  • Intimate worship setting
  • Themes relevant to our lives - beginning with "renewal"
  • Non-traditional styles for the Proclamation of the Gospel
  • Modern liturgy/service language
  • Communion
  • Use of multimedia
  • An alternate time - 4:30 in the afternoon
