WE EXPRESS OUR CHRISTIAN SYMPATHY... We express our Christian Sympathy and Hope of the Resurrection to the family of Morris Martin who entered God's eternal rest on Saturday. A funeral service will be held here at Zion on Wednesday, October 26th at 11:00 a.m. A celebratory luncheon will be held immediately following the service downstairs in the Fellowship Hall. Please keep his family in your prayers during this time of sorrow.
A REFORMATION RED-OUT The congregation is encouraged to come to worship on Sunday, October 30th wearing as much red as possible. In honor of the Reformation and as part of our reformation celebration, we are encouraging you to participate in a "red out." We look forward to our upcoming weekend-long Reformation Celebration and hope to see you on Saturday and Sunday.
REFORMATION FESTIVAL Sharing the gifts of the McConnells, staff members, and our youth, a special celebration of the Reformation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29th, here at Zion. A wonderful German meal prepared by our Kitchen Committee will be served at 5:00 pm. This menu includes Alsatian Sauerkraut Casserole (Sauerkraut, Bacon, Smoked Pork chops, Polish Sausage & Potatoes), Dried Beans, German Vegetable Salad, German Beet Salad, Apfelstrudel (Apple Strudel) and Westphalian Cherry Cake. There is a suggested donation amount of $5.00 / person.
Reservations may be made by calling or emailing the church office, 566-2589 or office@zluth.org. A presentation on Martin Luther entitled, “Scenes and Songs from Martin’s Life”, will follow. The program will include skits about the Reformer with a special children’s message for our youngest friends and songs of Luther’s composition both in the classical style and in the modern mode.
REFORMATION CHALLENGE… Even if you've never attended a Sunday school class here at Zion, in honor of Martin Luther's passion for our need to intentionally spend time in Scriptures and study to grow in our faith, we challenge you to give Sunday School a try this Sunday, October 30th. Deacon Roscoe will lead us from 9:30 - 10:30 bridging the themes of the Reformation to today. What does it mean for us to be worshipping as Lutheran-Christians today, five hundred years later? Join us to find out! We will meet downstairs in Leatherman Hall.
ATTENTION SMART PHONE USERS... We are right here with you in the use of your Smart Phones! Check the inside front cover of the bulletin for our code to access our website right through your Smart Phone. In the coming weeks, we will be providing additional opportunities through special codes... stay tuned!
